Twitter for images (kinda)

This is still an obvious Beta, but it’s fun. The approach of giving me a unique email address to post to from my phone is the thing that persuaded me to make the effort to set up email on my phone.

There’s nothing radical or particularly unique about Twitxr (except that they’ve got it up and running) and there’s nothing that you can’t do already with Blogger and Flickr etc, but for me it really proves the point that…

If you make something easier (and shift the context/emphasis/focus) then people will jump ship.

I love “moblogging”, so much that i built my own moblog engine for a small social website i run http://www.homeofmuppets.com/moblog one of the best things is you don’t need to necessarily give people unique emails, just ask them to list which mobile numbers/email addresses they will be sending from :)

Ah… NOW I get it…. So the question is, why can’t I make my own “Home of..” using your site and share similar stuff with my group? I really like how images get used (with text) in the headers… very cute!

I’ve considered offering a “whitelabel” moblogging service, it’s something on my “to explore” list, though with other services like Twitxr already offering this kind of service, is it worth the time and effort? lol.

Moblogging is a curious area, personally, i think your audience has to be limited in order to work successfully, on muppets the majority of us have met in the real world, even though we have members all over the world, so you connect a lot more with your audience, and the conversations that build up around your pictures and videos relates a lot more personally.

With large moblogging websites, your content soon gets lost in the noise.

One thing i have noticed though, is a lack of good design and UI in the moblog arena, textamerica is an example of good design, whereas Twitxr and moblog.co.uk are lacking in this area (though moblog.co.uk is getting better)

For whitelabel moblogging there are also running expenses and storage to consider, it would be rather foolish to offer a service like that for free *stop press* i’ve just seen that textamerica has shut down due to high running costs, quite shocked that such a massive site has pulled the plug! might go to show that there’s no money in moblogging!

Oh and the headers&text is something i’m working on integrating into northpack.co.uk too :)

Good points about group size… which is why I demand that HoM should be open-sourced (or second best, given to me) now!

I know a group of business men who “compete” top trumps stylee with photos of the hottest cars they’ve seen that day. I was with them when one bagged an orange lambourgini(?) in trafalgar square.

I could imagine there are thousands of similar “muppets” out there…
